Federal government spending is
completely out of control. In 2009, Congress voted to increase the
national debt by over $5 trillion over the next five years. Tim
Walberg believes government must live within its means and he would
have voted against Speaker Pelosi’s almost $4 trillion budget, the
$800 billion spending bill, and the $410 billion special
appropriations bill that increased spending by 8.4% and included
8,000 earmarks. Congressman Walberg believes politicians need to stop
digging our nation deeper into debt. In 2008, Tim received the
“Taxpayers Hero” Award from Citizens Against Government Waste.
Tim has a long history of defending Social Security for our nation's seniors. In the U.S. House, Tim introduced the lockbox bill to prevent Social Security dollars from being diverted to other government spending. Speaker Pelosi kept this bill stuck in committee. Tim believes we need to keep the promises made by Social Security and also allow younger workers the option to save their own money in their own name in their own account. Mark Schauer, who has raided Social Security with his trillions in new spending, has purposefully twisted my position to scare seniors and he should be ashamed.
