Schauer Finally Gives Away Rangel Cash, What About Skipping Committee Hearing?

Schauer Finally Gives Away Rangel Campaign Cash, When Will

He Give Away Money Raised While Skipping Committee Hearing?

Jackson, MI-
Congressman Mark Schauer, who paid the state of Michigan over $200,000 for violating campaign finance laws, finally gave away the campaign contributions he received from embattled and now former Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel.  Schauer said he returned the money “as a matter of conscience.”

Last year, Mark Schauer skipped his legislative committee hearing to attend his own DC lobbyist fundraiser.  Jackson Surgeon Dr. Paul Kenyon said at the time, “Mark Schauer should give his salary back to the taxpayers for the time he didn’t show up for work and at the very least donate his lobbyist campaign contributions from that fundraiser to a worthwhile charity to truly help his constituents.”  Did Mark Schauer return his salary or give those campaign contributions to charity?

“Unless Congressman Schauer secretly returned the money, apparently skipping his committee hearing to attend his own Washington D.C. PAC fundraiser did not violate Congressman Schauer’s conscience,” said Walberg campaign spokesman Joe Wicks.

“Along with voting for trillion dollar deficits and a government takeover of health care, Mark Schauer continues to create campaign finance problems in Washington just like he did in Michigan, and he is one of the reasons Washington is broken,” added Wicks.
