Safeguarding Taxpayer Dollars

Tim was proud to author provisions in the Working Families Tax Cuts to save taxpayers over $284 billion. No other piece of enacted legislation in recent congressional history has produced as much savings for taxpayers. 

Keeping More Money in Your Pocket

Tim voted to prevent the largest tax hike in American history to ensure that you can keep more of your hard-earned money. The Working Families Tax Cuts prevented a 27% tax hike on families in Michigan's 5th District, and offered historic economic relief to hardworking families through provisions like no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, and no tax on Social Security for 88% of seniors.

Rooting Out Fraud 

Tim understands that federal programs should support real families, rather than fraudsters, and has worked to crack down on fraud and hold fraudsters accountable. As Chair of the Education and Workforce Committee, he has ushered legislation through the House to root out fraud in child care and student aid programs. He has also voted to strengthen federal oversight of taxpayer-funded programs to prevent the exploitation of federal programs that have drained billions from hardworking taxpayers. 

Combating Inflation

For too long, Washington has had a runaway spending problem, raising costs on Michigan families. Tim has been a vocal advocate for a balanced budget amendment. Families across Michigan must balance their budget, and it is time for the federal government to do the same. Tim has supported legislation that would prevent any legislation that would increase the crippling inflation hitting hardworking families hardest.

Tim has also been supportive of reducing burdensome regulations that raise costs on Michigan families. He has voted in favor of legislation to reverse misguided regulations to save Americans a collective $180 billion. 

Taking on Special Interests to Lower Health Care Costs

Tim is committed to bringing down health care costs for Michigan families. He has led efforts to expand access to quality health care and drive down costs for enrollees in some industries by up to 50%. He also voted to lower premiums by at least 11% and require pharmacy benefit managers to provide greater transparency on prescription drug pricing.

Leading Efforts on AI Safety Guardrails

Tim has led the Education and Workforce Committee in examining artificial intelligence (AI) and understands the need to provide guardrails to protect Americans. He has introduced legislation to understand the impacts AI is having on our workforce so Congress has the data necessary to legislate responsibly.

Securing the Border

Tim has worked with his colleagues to secure the border and ensure that it remains secure. He voted for the largest border security investment in history to provide funding for the border wall, stop the flow of deadly fentanyl, and upgrade border technology. As a result of policies like this, August marked the 16th straight month of zero releases at our nation's border. 

While many in Washington like to talk, Tim prioritizes action! His ability to get things done in an all-too-often gridlocked Congress makes him an effective legislator.
